Will AI companions redefine human relationships?
The use of AI chatbots is becoming increasingly popular in Switzerland, particularly among young adults. Although they are primarily used as tools, some people see them as more than just simple helpers. The Vulpy learning app demonstrates how quickly people entrust chatbots with personal matters: while three-quarters of the questions asked by schoolchildren were about schoolwork, the rest concerned personal issues, such as quarrels with parents.
TA-SWISS is commissioning a technology assessment focused on the potential consequences of the burgeoning relationship between humans and AI.
The call for proposals will be conducted in a two-stage process. Project outlines should be submitted by 13 October 2025
